Art and artists of the most ancient journey

Migration is a conversation between cultures, geographies, people and families; between immigrants and hosts as they encounter and ultimately embrace each other. Sometimes they are understood, sometimes not, but communication always goes on. At some point of time this conversation generates meaningful art.

The migrant as an artist is a particularly creative soul because the artist accommodates two significant cultures in their work and produces a third, the art that is born in fusion.

The artists featured here are painters, musicians and singers. They have been recognized not only as creative artists in their host and originating cultures but also as commentators on the process of immigration. Their art has become a conversation between the artist and the audience, the culture they hold and the culture they adopt, and finally the culture they create as they make this long and ancient journey to become a part of two worlds.
